I’ll be going into my junior year of college this fall. I’m wanting to lock into a major that I’ll be happy with and that will lead me down a career path that I desire.
A job that I think I’d really enjoy and really be good at would be a college admissions representative, but I know next to nothing about what it takes to enter this field. Would I need a degree in advertising or marketing? What other degrees would be ideal for a person wanting to become a college admissions rep?
Contact the admissions office at your school for information./
Marketing and/or communications skills don’t hurt, but what really makes a difference is experience and enthusiasm. If you’re not already involved with the admissions office at your school, get involved.
Working in admissions usually only requires a bachelor’s degree, but many people in the field may have master’s degrees in higher education administration or student personnel/student affairs as well.
