I hope they keep it up. My university got taken over by NIKE corporation. That is what my Youtube channel is about.

  2. Indrajith4evr says:

I’m a student @ Ottawa u. 2 b completely honest, services here r at best poor. Most of the faculties except for medicine and engineering r seriously underfunded. The lecture halls have equipments that r inferior in quality to the Algonquin college. I wouldn’t mind paying that tuition fee if at least they invest in renovation and hiring lecturers that can actually teach. Instead of renovating they build more new infrastructures when the old ones r falling apart.

  3. camster1177 says:

I wasn’t referring to your comments.

  4. camster1177 says:

It is free in much of Europe – but they have very few schools in comparison. Admissions are selective and paces limited. The level of student that attends a school like Ottawa U, Carleton, Concordia, etc. would be locked out of a university education all together and referred to vocational school after the 10th grade, like they do in much of Europe were university is “free”. Canada would have to close more than half its schools in order to offer free uni.

  5. bloodrageX5 says:

You do have parent’s dont you? or are you an orphan.

  6. bloodrageX5 says:

If you actually read what I wrote, then you would notice that I wasn’t complaining. I was telling the other people cplaining to stop complaining.

  7. camster1177 says:

The point is that you all need to stop your complaining. You pay next to nothing to attend Canadian universities as provincial residents.I get that many of you are Ottawa U students, i.e. probably fucking idiots – but here is a simple concept.Schools have to raise tuition as the cost of living rises in order to pay the bills.

  8. bloodrageX5 says:

No one forced you to go to Columbia. You could’ve gone to any other uni.

  9. JesterFace9 says:

    It is free in France.

  10. camster1177 says:

Oh please.. Spare me… My education cost me 36K US per year.. I attended Columbia University in New York.. I still owe thousands of dollars.. I worked full time, took evening courses in addition to the full time job – and survived off no-name mac n cheese and a healthy diet of Ramen noodles for years. You are bitching about 5K Canadian (about 3K US when I was at school)… Try paying between 30 and 50K per year over 4 years…

  11. reebi24 says:

Because students have 5000 in their change purse. I guess you were asleep in LIVING101. How would you feel if pennies you make over the summer just cover your tuition fees? How about living on soup for weeks because it’s the only food you can afford? How about having the heat on some of the time during -30 temperature because gas is seen as a luxury? How about using a credit card knowing you can’t pay it back but without it you can’t survive? Education is a right not a privilege.

  12. cooleb says:

go find a job you hippies

  13. DeenerVideos says:

    this happened in K-Town

  14. intelsilver says:

Oh God I wish it was free in Ottawa.

  15. Fmaack says:

It’s actually free in many countries.

  16. intelsilver says:

    That’s nice but utopic

  17. camster1177 says:

As for the argument, the size of the tuition rise reflects the fact that tuition has not been raised in eons – so the 30% rise is reflective of the past decade – not just 4 years, as anyone with basic econ could tell you

  18. camster1177 says:

Tuition must be raised to match rising inflation. I assume these students (only a few hundred out of tends of thousands) were alseep during ECON101. There is NO way for the university to surive and remain competetive (neither schools in the case are anyway) without tuition rising with the times. Rent rises, food costs rise, everything rises as years go on – and so must tuition.,

  19. Fmaack says:

    University education should be free.
