Guitar basics: Fretting tips lesson (beginner tuition)

Mine was the truss rod, took it to shop and had tech do it for me.
5 minutes later and a couple 1/8 or 1/4 turns and it played like a different guitar.
Funny thing I had just gotten a pro setup 1 week earlier, but brand new guitar / weather change (yes on an inside guitar) will tweak it.
Didn’t believe weather could accomplish this since I never take out of my living room but it does.
cool, thanks!
really good.
that was very good
but despite all this, my guitar is still buzzing :@:@:@:@!!!
why is it doing that? i’m quite new if that helps.
Lmao 2:01
Maybe that’s how cowboys play guitar outoftune a lil’bit
Darn now have to cut my long nails if I want to learn to play!!! Keyboard was easier…I could keep my nails!!
Fuck i want that ESP sooo bad
Well sometimes is not the size of the finger the problem, but the position of your hand… be sure that your thumb on the back of the neck is in the middle and not crossing the whole neck in the back… this will allow you to have your fingers a lil more straight when you press the frets… the rest I would say is just practice… this video is pretty good… so take his advices… if not.. you might wanna try a bass guitar!! LOL.. just kidding man! keep on rockin’!
Hi there, I’ve got a problem, my finger is a little big, so when i press a string, i press a little bit on the string below, is that a major problem or is it normal?
whatever is comfortable i use in between the tip and the ball of my finger
LOL 2:01
thank you, this helped a lot
so should i fret w/my tip of fingers or bottom of fingers?i should i fret really hard to he point when it really hurts or stings?
Really helpful video.
Your getting a fret buzz because you need to have your frets sanded. It usually occurs on the low e string because the string vibrates on certain areas when it is un-even. I congratulate you for attempting to teach people but in all honesty your terrible.
actually i get lessons from a pro and yeah thats how you play. it gives a sharper sound. tahts how i play anyways tahts what he says biotch
Dude, you’re kinde of right.. I guess, but that’s not something you have to try to do. For me anyway, my fingers automatically do that. It’s just natural, there’s no point in giving a lesson on it. The pressure of your fingers on the fretboard automatically pushes them down to the fret, and it’s very hard to press hard on a string when you’re in the middle of a solo, so that was pretty much useless for beginners no offense it just gives them more things to worry about.
Well, I’ve been a pro musician for 14 years. I also have extensive teaching experience and many of many fellow professionals agree this is good technique. Planting in the middle of the fret (especially at fret 1) is a recipe for fret buzz. Also check out the Registry of Guitar Tutors exams they also recommend this technique.
Love James
P.S I had a look for some your kick ass videos demonstrating your flawless technique, but couldn’t find any.
um… is this a joke? i’ve been playing for over 10 years and have never heard of anybody fretting like this. hitting the note too close to the fret reduces sustain and makes it much easier to sound out of tune. you need to plant the tip of your finger right in the middle of the fret. this will give you more sustain and less fret buzz. basically you’re looking for a 15 degree angle of the string from the metal fret to the fretboard. just like it does from the nut to the tuners at the headstock.
Awesome vid man, this is just what Ive been looking for thanks.
great vid man, i just started out and this really helped, thanks so much

If you REALLY like Radiohead, Modest Mouse and The Cure…then you’ll almost definitely LOVE The Smiths. Like those three, they are one of the greatest indie bands of all time and you’ll probably REALLY like The Stone Roses as well and Joy Division.
Try Nate James, his music style is funky kind of like Stevie Wonder. He’s a good artist and i’m not just saying that cos he’s family lol
